The porcelain bowl simulating the cinnabar lacquer， with curved sides rising from a short foot to a gently flaring rim， the exterior carved with four ‘shou’ character roundels against a diaper ground above a lappet band， the rim and foot encircled with key-fret bands， covered overall in a vermillion-red glaze， the interior painted overall in different shades of reddish-brown enamel in imitation of a wood body under the surface of lacquer， and rim in gilt.
